White to be screened on YouTube over Easter weekend

Easter is usually a time for families to get together, and this year with COVID-19 restrictions we will all be staying home, so we want to mark the weekend by sharing a full version of our multi-award-winning show, White, via the online video-sharing platform YouTube.

Over every day of the four-day Easter weekend, viewers will be able to follow the link here at 11am, 2pm or 4pm GMT to enjoy a live version of the 35-minute production. Featuring Ian Cameron and Michael Dylan, this video was filmed by our friends at The ASK (Art Space For Kids) in Beijing, 2018.

Accompanying the production, is White: The App, a digital toy for children aged 2-4 years, and now made free to download via the App store, with thanks to Hippotrix. Parents and carers are encouraged to download the app to continue the fun after the show.

For more information on the app, visit our webpage.

Gill Robertson, Artistic Director of Catherine Wheels comments;

“We are delighted that we are able to share this lovely film version of White. It feels like the right time to share this special show with families around the world and also offer the White app, which is a beautiful, quirky and engrossing game for wee ones. I love the idea of families watching it together, wherever they are.”

White centres around two characters, Cotton and Wrinkle, two friends who look after the birdhouses and make sure the eggs stay safe. The world is bright, ordered and white. But high in the trees, all is not white. Colour appears. First red, then yellow, then blue. White is a playful, highly visual show for young children, and a perfect theatre experience to enjoy together.

The production was originally created in 2010, by theatre makers Andy Manley and Ian Cameron and directed by Catherine Wheels’ Artistic Director Gill Robertson. Since its premiere, White has toured around the globe, delighting over 98,000 audience members in Australia, Asia, Europe and North America and has won seven awards including a Critics Award for Theatre in Scotland for Best Show for Children & Young People and a TMA Theatre Award.
