White Wins at Theatre Awards UK

White won the Theatre Awards UK award for best show for children and young people. The ceremony was held on Sunday 30th October at Banqueting House on Whitehall, London. The award was accepted by Gill Robertson and Paul Fitzpatrick on behalf of Andy Manley, who is performing White at the New Victory in New York. Gill said:

“we are thrilled with the award for White. It’s a show we are very proud of and worked hard to make. We’re delighted that theatre for early year’s audiences is getting this level of recognition. Andy Manley, who created White, is currently performing the show on Broadway and he is over the moon to have won”

White is continuing to delight audiences:

“Ingeniously designed by Shona Reppe, the production, directed by Gill Robertson, abounds in visual surprises. One hue after another surreptitiously invades the scene, much to small children’s delight.”

“an elegant little romp that has more sophistication than the usual kiddie show—and a slightly subversive edge”
NY Press

“Although the story is simple, White still delivered a powerful message. In fact, days later, my 3-year-old son continues to ask incredulously why Cotton and Wrinkle wouldn’t want color in their lives, so clearly the show made an impression.”

White runs in New York until November 13th and opens at the Southbank Centre, London on December 17th.
