Welcome Emma Jones

Last month we welcomed a new member to the Catherine Wheels team in the form of Emma Jones, our new Production Manager. She comes with a wealth of experience in theatre production and touring, as well as some brilliant ideas of how we can work smarter. Here are some words from Emma herself about what she’ll be getting up to as she joins Catherine Wheels. Welcome to our new Wheeler – Emma!

I’ve just started as the new Production Manager with Catherine Wheels and am spending a lot of time getting lost around Musselburgh as I find my way from the office to the studio. I was most recently Head of Production at Scottish Dance Theatre, following a stint at Dundee Rep as Deputy Chief LX and before that I worked in the West End of London. I’m only here part time, the rest of my work life is spent with other theatre and dance companies as a production manager and lighting designer.

I’m delighted to be working on two iconic Catherine Wheels shows within my first week, Lifeboat which is out touring schools until the end of March; and White which is touring to North America in May. One of the exciting parts to my job is looking at ways we can make theatre greener and more sustainable and its going to be a real challenge that the whole company, and anyone who works with us, will have to embrace. It’s been a joy to start to find my way around our prop and costumes store while rehearsals are happening next door and I had a treat at the end of the week when I was lucky enough to watch a run of Lifeboat before it goes out on the road again next week. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and feel incredibly lucky to be joining such a welcoming, successful team.
