Theatre in Schools Scotland Launch

This morning saw the launch of Theatre in Schools Scotland, an exciting new initiative established to support the provision of quality theatre in Scotland’s school. Developed by Imaginate and National Theatre of Scotland. Theatre in Schools Scotland aims to ensure that all children in Scotland have the opportunity to access world class children’s theatre in their own school with the ultimate ambition of guaranteeing that every child in Scotland sees a minimum of one performing arts production, per year, as a core part of their education.
We are delighted that Catherine Wheels, alongside Visible Fictions and Starcatchers, are working in partnership with NTS and Imaginate to make this important initiative happen.
As part of this first pilot year of the scheme our award-winning show Martha will go on an extensive tour of Scottish schools, reaching 22 local authorities and playing at over 30 primary schools (with still potential for more!) , from 15 August to 14 October 2016.

Gill Robertson, Catherine Wheels Artistic Director says:

“I am really proud that Catherine Wheels is part of Theatre in Schools Scotland. We believe that every child in Scotland should have access to great theatre and initiatives such as this take us a step closer to making that a reality. Martha was the company’s first ever show and we are thrilled to be taking it back on the road to Scottish schools”
