Fully funded PhD Opportunity

We are delighted to annouce that we have teamed up with the University of Glasgow to offer a full time PhD studentship over three years. Applicants should have a 2.1 honours degree and an appropriate masters level qualification or they should be a theatre practitioner who can demonstrate that their professional experience has prepared them for doctoral-level research. The most important thing is a passion and an enthusiasm for exploring issues of sustainability through theatre.

Sustaining the Imagination: theatre for learning and sustainability will explore how theatre can help children engage with the environment and climate change. The studentship will be hosted by Catherine Wheels and the University of Glasgow. The successful candidate will work closely with Catherine Wheels and two primary schools whilst carrying out their practice-led research.

The methodolgy of the studentship will be field-based and experimental and the student will essentially be Catherine Wheels’ theatre artist-in-residence at two primary schools. The studentship will culminate with a final piece, or series of pieces, which explore issues around the environment and climate change.

The closing date for applications is July 9th, interviews will be held in Musselburgh on July 18th.
