Our Fringe Picks

Catherine Wheels might not be presenting a show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year but we are still caught up in the buzz and excitement of it all, particularly as so many of our Associate Artists and regular collaborators are performing in brilliant shows. We wanted to share with you some of the great work friends of Catherine Wheels are making and appearing in this August.

At Summerhall our former FST Assistant Director Alice Cooper is presenting her one woman show Waves at 10.10 am every morning (except Mondays), a real delight for anyone aged eight and over.

You can make it a dazzling double bill by catching Mikey and Addie directly afterward at 11.30am, also in Summerhall it is performed by Andy Manley, written by Rob Evans and designed by Shona Reppe, all Catherine Wheels Associate Artists.

And for a full day at Summerhall you can see Cath Whitefield in Tim Crouch’s notorious Adler & Gibb [adlerandgibb]http://festival16.summerhall.co.uk/event/adler-gibb/

Over at the Traverse you can enjoy a bright and early start watching Lost at Sea writer’s Morna Pearson’s Breakfast Play Bin Heid at 9am.

In Traverse 2 another of our former FST Assistant Director Bursary recipients, Claire Willoughby, has directed Greater Belfast, part gig, part poetic storytelling written and composed by Matt Regan.

Also in Traverse 2 Catherine Wheels Associate Artist Karen Tennent has designed Expensive Shit, new work from Adura Onashile

In Traverse 1 you can catch the world premiere of Milk, the debut play from Ross Dunsmore with sound design from our Associate Artist Danny Krass

Every Monday morning in the Traverse Café Bar you can enjoy Hair of the Dog with Village Pub Theatre who are offering short new plays to ease you into the week, including work from Catherine Wheels Communications Co-ordinator Helen Shutt. On Monday 15th regular Catherine Wheels actors Jenny Hulse and Isabelle Joss will be performing and on Monday 22nd August the cast includes actor Ros Sydney.

Amy McGregor, who you may recognise from our 2015 Fringe production of The Voice Thief, is performing in Molly Whuppie at 10.30 every morning at the Assembly Roxy, suitable for over threes.

At Edinburgh Book Festival Laurie Brown, recently seen in Lost at Sea, performs in James Ley’s Lovesong to Lavender Menace in a special one-off performance on August 27th at 7.30pm.

We hope you enjoy these pieces as much as us and have a great time this Fringe.
