Catherine Wheels and Shona Reppe at the Fringe

Catherine Wheels are sharing the beautiful space at the Scottish Book Trust with Shona Reppe this year to bring two great family shows to the fringe as part of the Traverse Theatre’s festival programme.

We first worked with The Book Trust and The Traverse to present the premiere of White as part of the fringe in 2010. White has gone on to become a world-wide hit and has won seven awards. One of the things so many parents commented on was The Book Trust was a “haven” in what can be the madness of the Festival and fringe.

This year’s offering is for older children – The Ballad of Pondlife McGurk is for everyone over nine and The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean is recommended for 7+. Just like White, both shows have proved as popular with adults as they have with children, so we’re hoping for another great family fringe experience.

Thom Dibdin (The Stage) on _The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean_:
“a near-perfect production for those aged seven years and over…. A truly wonderful show that will charm parents as much as their children.”

Mark Fisher (ScottishTHEATRE) on _The Ballad of Pondlife McGurk_:

“the tale is mesmerising… and, most movingly, captures the sense of helplessness as a perfect friendship goes perfectly wrong.”

Tickets can be booked on the Traverse Theatre’s Website, or call the box office on 0131 228 1404

The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean and The Ballad of Ponddlife McGurk are part of the Made In Scotland Showcase 2012, funded by Creative Scotland.
